Installing Under Cabinet Microwaves
Installing an under cabinet microwave is fairly easy to do as well, much easier if you have a helper. If help is not available, a microwave can be installed by your self.
Step 1
Unscrew the back mounting bracket from the microwave, center the bracket in the opening under the cabinet and mark the holes that have arrows next to them.
Step 2
Punch a small hole in the wall where you have your marks to figure out if you have to use the lag bolts or the toggle bolts that came with the microwave. If you didn't hit any studs, thats fine but you will need to make about a 7/8" hole so that the wings of the toggle bolt fit in the hole. Ounce you have done that, make sure that the bolts are nice and tight.
Step 3
Measure the holes on the top of the microwave one from the side of the microwave to your first hole and take another measurement from the back of the microwave to you first hole then mark your measurements on the bottom of the cabinet and then do the same for the next 2 holes, or you can place the template that comes with the microwave under the cabinet and trace the holes.
Step 4
When you have marked your holes on the cabinet, drill out your marks with a bit that will give you a little bit of play with the bolt. After you have that done take a measurement for the power cord and drill that out with a 1 1/2" hole saw, or use the template and trae that as well.
Step 5
Now its time to mount the microwave, get something to high enough to set the microwave on (like a 4' ladder) so that you can feed the power cord through your hole then take the microwave and put it on the back mounting bracket. Get it tight to the bottom of the cabinet then screw in your bolts, if all of your measurements are correct then the microwave will go in nice and easy.
