Replacing GFCI Outlets
Replacing GFCI outlets is very basic as well, you will need to pull the old plug out and find out which wires are incomming feed. The incomming feed is known as the line wire, once you have identified that wire, shut the power off to the plug.
The line on a GFCI outlet is normally on the bottom it will also be identified on the back of the plug, insert the black power wire into the brass hole and the white wire into the silver or grey hole. If there are other wires comming out of the box, you will need to see where they are going by testing using a tester.
If you cant find out where the wires go, put them in the holes of the load side on the GFCI just to be safe. If you do find out that they go to a kitchen or a bathroom plug, put the wires under the load side as well.
If you find out that they go to another place of the house, put the wires in the other holes on the line side. Make sure that all of the screws on the GFCI are nice and tight then screw the GFCI outlet into the box.
