Replacing Receptacles

Most receptacles can be used with only copper, so you will have to look at the acceptable wire rating. CU stands for copper wire only and CU-AL means that the plug is suitable for copper and alluminum wire.

They are also very easy to change, the black wire always goes on the brass screw, the white wire always goes on the gray or silver screw and the bare wire goes on the green screw on the bottom of the receptacle.
